Would your menus and sales materials benefit from clear calorie information?
We can help.
The Calorie Labelling (Out of Home Sector) (England) Regulations 2021 came into force in April 2022 as part of the then government’s anti-obesity strategy. They brought a legal requirement for food service businesses in England with more than 250 employees to give calorie information at the point of sale.
In most instances, this will mean on the menus in sit-down dining operations, or on the sales signage in take-away formats. Calorie information needs to be available and prominently displayed so that consumers can – if they wish to – choose to make better informed or healthier choices.
Whilst most large food service businesses are already doing this, smaller businesses may find they need to start to label calories as their staff headcount increases, and many smaller food service businesses choose to opt-in on providing information for their customers.
As menus change with the seasons or with new product introductions, they need new calorie calculations to be done, and we can help with providing those.
We work with the industry standard nutritional databases, using those that are only licensed for use by qualified nutrition advisers. We will ask you about your recipe processes and weight losses during cooking, to ensure your data is calculated with optimum accuracy.
Whether you need calculations for your whole extensive menu or just a few new dishes, we can help.
Allergens on Menus
We can interrogate your recipes to highlight the potential allergen risks for your customers, creating a so-called ‘allergen matrix’ that will help your staff to guide your customers to the dishes that work with their allergen or dietary restrictions.
In addition, by working with our associates at the allergen-focused business ‘And It Has’, we can create digital menus for use in your restaurants and on your website. These help diners with dietary restrictions to check what’s available before they book.
Digital menus can be used in your restaurant on a tablet or an app to guide customer choices. We offer easy identification of all the ingredients that may be a problem for each diner – as well as helping them to find all the dishes suitable for vegetarian, vegan, or religious dietary restrictions.
Whilst identification of the 14 most common food allergens is well established, customers with rarer allergies or intolerance outside the top 14 are not uncommon.
Our digital menus quickly sort all your dishes and show which are suitable. They also reduce the need for staff to know ‘everything’ and increase customer confidence that their needs will be met.
